History

Community Lanes, Inc. held its first annual shareholders meeting at the Knights of Columbus Home in 1959. Prior to opening, Community Lanes named Donald Kotwica the Manager and Joseph Baumer the Assistant Manager. In October of 1959, the Ohio Department of Liquor Control announced issuance of a new retail permit to Community Lanes.

Community Lanes was first opened to the public on November 28, 1959. Brunswick Star Bowler, Stan Gifford, appeared opening weekend for an exhibition match. The ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by Mayor Joseph Raterman and President of Community Lanes, Norbert Gudorf. Following the ceremony was the throwing of the first ball by Mayor Raterman, who got a perfect strike to get things off to a good start.

Since opening in 1959, Community Lanes has become and continues to be a great part of the community.

Community Lanes continued to grow as a business throughout the 70's and 80's and the board of directors decided 1991 was the time to expand.  6 new lanes were added to the west side of the building along with many other changes to meet the needs of the bowler.

A new era has begun at Community Lanes,  the installation of new synthetic Brunswick Prolanes was completed in the summer of 2012.  Along with new lanes and approaches we have upgraded the sound system.  Along with the new sound system Brunswick Light Worx has been installed.  Brunswick Light Worx is a state of the art lighting package that utilizes LED lighting technology to enhance the bowlers experience while bowling in the dark.  New flat screen monitors we also added in the summer of 2011.
